FOB2Y and some LOs

This week's SSD Blog Post was a typing test.  And I hate to say it but this test sucks.  What kind of test is just mumbo jumbo and no real sentences?  That's just unheard of.  I usually test around 90 wpm, and with this test I just could not get it together.  So. . .

77 words

But here are the LOs I've been working on the past several weeks.  I've been exhausted, both physically and mentally but have had a wonderful time making this LOs.

Another Fall Kit

Like I mentioned before, I have completely redone my Not "Sew" Spooky Pumpkins kit.  I've shortened the name, tweaked the elements, and uploaded it to Groovy Scraps and Scrapper's Zone.  It's still as adorable as can be so snatch it while it's on sale.  :)

Pumpkin Patchwork (revisited)

So last year, when I was first learning to design, I participated in a Designer Contest at Just for the Scrap of It (which is no longer around).  The contestants created a huge fall kit that we gave away on our blogs.  Well, I have come a long way since the days of JFTSOI and am proud to reintroduce this adorable kit.  I call it Pumpkin Patchwork.  It is on sale at Scrapper's Zone and Groovy Scraps.  Don't forget about the $1 sale at Groovy Scraps.  You might be able to pick up this kit for a buck!

And be on the lookout for a revamped version of last year's Halloween kit, Not Sew Spooky Pumpkins, coming soon.  Happy Scrapping!!

SSD - FOBTY

This one was a little odd, and I'm thankful of the result I received after taking this quiz.  Just a little odd if you want my honest opinion.  Really, who thinks about things like this??

You Could Not Be a Vampire
Sorry, but you're not just cut out for flesh eating, turning into a bat, and living forever.
But that's okay. The sight of blood turns your stomach... without even thinking of drinking it.
And while you definitely would never be a vampire, you're exactly the type of frail prey Dracula wannabe's crave.
Maybe it's time to arm yourself with a cross and some nasty garlic breath!

What you would like best about being a vampire: The raw power (though you wouldn't admit it to anyone)

What you would like least about being a vampire: The whole killing thing

Facing CT Rejection

So there is a particular site that I visit in the digital scrapbooking world almost daily. I will continue to visit there and play along with their challenges. I will continue to purchase kits from some of my favorite designers and use the points I earn in their shop. But I do not know if I will continue applying to be on CTs for their designers. I've applied to be on 4 CTs at this site. I love each designers work so much that I cannot stop using their products, and I don't want to name them in public because I don't want anything bad to be said about them as designers, BUT I will point out that the majority of the members of their CTs are the same. I don't understand why you make a CT call for new talent, but then choose the same people as your fellow designers. And not only that, but make them the same people who are on the SITE CT. Ridiculous. That's all I have to say.

Maybe I'm just bitter because I've had a run of rejections lately. Who knows. I've been out of my element and attempting to make it up to the ladies I CT for (who are ALL amazing). But at the same time, I'd love to work with some awesome new stuff w/o going broke (If you know what I mean). Ugh.

Okay, I'm done. Here are my latest LOs

Am I Real?

Another SSD FOB2Y.  This time a quiz to see how "real" I am.  I know that I'm pretty comfortable with who I am as a person.  I am not happy with my appearance and weight at the moment.  I'll get there again, but other than that, I am who I am, and I'm not going to change who I am to make anyone happy.  So how did I pan out according to the quiz??

You Are 76% Real
You know who you are, and you're pretty darn comfortable with yourself.
Like everyone, you struggle with the parts of yourself that aren't so great...
But you're good at accepting who you are and not dwelling on your faults.
As a result, you're confident, optimistic, and very real.

I'd say I did pretty well :)

Where Were You?

Where were you seven years ago today at 8:00 EST??  On the way to work/preschool today, the song by Alan Jackson, Where were you when the world stopped turning?, came on the radio.  I usually am able to get a grip on my emotions and just reflect on what happened to our country on that day in 2001.  But this year, tears welled up in my eyes as I listened to the words of the song, particularly the 2nd verse when he sings, "Where were you when the world stopped turning that September day
Teaching a class full of innocent children Driving down some cold interstate."

My eyes welled up with tears because 7 years ago, I was teaching my 1st class of 5th graders.  The class that was deemed, "The class from h---." by the other teacher with whom I worked.  And here I was, fresh out of college, trying to get a grip on teaching as well as make long lasting connections with my students.  I learned so much from those 10 year olds (who are now graduating from high school).  I learned that forgiveness really is key to moving on with our lives.  I remember Kacie Friedrich praying for the people who did this to our country, "Lord, please forgive the men who did this terrible thing.  Please show them your love."   I remember standing there in awe, thinking. . . wow. . . .can I forgive them?  And of course, I still have not.  I still feel like my life has been violated - that my children's lives have been violated because now they have to learn in history class about something that happened in my lifetime.  I suppose this is what my parents felt during Vietnam, or my grandparents during WWII and Korea.  I don't know, now I think that I really did take living in America for granted.  I, never in my life, ever thought that someone from behind enemy lines would come here to act out against us.  Just for being American.

But I am proud to be an American.  I'm proud of our public servicemen and women.  Anytime I see a firefighter I just want to hug him/her.  And I know that before 9/11, I did not have those feelings.  Now, I want to bring them cookies and tell them Thank You.  Same goes to any police officer, ENT, and soldier/sailor/etc.

So I ask you, where were you?  Do you remember?  Have you forgotten?  If you have, please revisit what happened to our country and remember to say thank you.  Tell your neighbor hello and invite your folks over for dinner one evening.

XoXo

SSD - FOB2Y

As I am waiting for my hubby to come back to our Mini Honeymoon (it's our 9th anniversary) from the store to get something to eat, I thought I'd play the latest SSD FOB2Y.

For this week’s challenge, we’re going to take you back to school.  The Crayola website has a test to see how many colors you know! And I am a certified COLOR GENIUS!  Making 15 mistakes and 8 of them were from the "Kid's Choice Colors" (what are those?).  I'm happy to say I know the majority of the colors in the BIG BOX of CRAYONS - even mac and cheese and robin's egg blue.  LOL

Happy Weekend y'all!
