What’s Been Going On?

Well, for one thing, I have been creating LO for the lovely designers who allow me to use their designs. It’s been one crazy of a semester. It started off fairly easy and ended with me in bed, twice. After running 3 5ks in a week’s time, I suffered from a stress fracture. A stress fracture in which nothing but staying off it and wearing a blue boot will relieve any pain. Thankfully, I am all healed up and have been given the go to start training again –a 1/2 marathon this time. I’m going to do it, and I’m going to do it well. I’m very excited. But before I can start training, I have to get over this LOVELY Sinus and Lower Respiratory Infection that has been lingering for months. We are starting month 2 with a terrible cough, and a pulled rib muscle. Sucks.

But that hasn’t kept me from taking photos. If you’re in the Austin Area and are looking for a lifestyle photographer, please see my new photography business BFA Photography for any information or to book a session. A complete session is $150 for 1 – 2 on location to take the photos. Within a week you will receive a CD with up to 50 files for you to view, print, and enlarge. I offer printing, and “extras” like collages, black and white, and storyboards, as well as cards and announcement for an additional fee.

My scrapbook business has taken a hiatus, and I am loving receiving emails asking for more of my templates so I’ve decided to just sell them here on my blog. So tell others about it. Some of the items will be on specials, others will be full price. Some will be old, and some will be new. But all I know, is they will be templates!

Well, I've been MIA for a while. Scrapping has seemed to become a quiet pastime of mine. But that will be changing as I have a new class to scrap as well as a school year for each of my kiddos. I'm still finishing up my class scrapbook from last year. I've been stuck on the last couple pages - just can't seemed to sit down and finish them. Of course, now that I've said that, I will sit down and do that today. Need to get them done so I can send the links to my parents and let them relive the Three's class at Noah's Ark in pictures.

I'm the Historian for Hannah's PTA so along with her personal class scrapbook, I will be creating a scrapbook for the entire school year. Of course, due to permissions, privacy etc, I won't be able to share those pages. But I will share the ones I create as a Mommy for my both children. I guess I should get started.

Flergs has some great new stuff out - her RAWKING kit for boys, Carver, for one.

And I couldn't be more excited about the new kit coming out on the 25th. Here's a sneak peek.

Battle of the Creative Teams

So, I'm totally honored to work on Flergs' (Megs Farrow) Creative Team. Totally honored. I've been having so much fun working with her designs (which are totally amazing). This summer, DigiScrapAddict is hosting the Battle of the Creative Teams, and I am working alongside with some pretty amazing ladies. We had our first assignment last week. White Space. We chose to not only use white space but also make that space white. Pretty cool, although my LO looks more gray than white. LOL Here are the LOs that our team created. We all used the same kit, Mellisa and Mellisa II with backgrounds from various other kits of Megs'.

I've been working getting Cayden's Spring Program video edited and creating end of year scrapbooks. Here are the layouts I've created in the last month. The best part of this all was the trip I took to PA to visit my grandparents and extended family. I had LOTS of free time to work on the end of year scrapbooks! I don't have time right now to list all credits, but I will, I promise.

Kindergarten Layouts

I cannot believe that there are only 8 weeks of school left. I don't know what I'm going to do with myself or my children, but I do know that Hannah has had a great year! And I'm thankful that I've been able to scrap her Kindergarten year. As a parent, I promised myself to make the best effort to attend all important events/activities at Hannah's school. And I've been able to do so (it's such a blessing). The only big event I've missed is the Valentine's Party, but Hannah understood, and Ms. A got some great pictures of the day that I am able to scrap. This week, I've been working on her Kindergarten Scrapbook. I'm very pleased with the results thus far. I've already completed some of the layouts but these are the most recent ones I've made.

These two LOs were created with Lliella Designs' kit, Chinese New Year (available at Funky Playground Designs).

This has got to be one of my favorite LOs at the moment. Photos from Groundhog's Day. Thanks to Ms. A for taking the pictures. Who knew they'd do something THIS CUTE? Anyway, the kit I used was Garden Fresh also by Lliella Designs.

This LO was created with Sherri Tierney's awesome kit, Get Your Groove On. It's an oldie, but a goodie!! These are photos from Math and Science Night at school.

And this LO was created using a QP from Backyard Bugs by Karla Marano (Glitter by Flergs). These are photos from the Science Fair - Hannah's class got 2nd place in the Kindergarten Category.

It feels like forever since I've blogged about anything scrapping. I'm supposed to be a designer, but I'm juts too busy to be one. I feel bad about that and am thinking of "retiring." We'll just have to wait and see. I hope the next few months slow down.

I'm FLERGALICIOUS!!

That's right! I'm a Diva on Flergs' full time CT. I harassed her enough to let me stay ;) Anyway, I've been working my butt off with her designs, and I guess she likes my work because I'm now apart of an amazing group of ladies FULL TIME!! Yippee!!!

Of course, with this change in my scrapping, I've having to step down from several of my wonderful designers. I just don't have the time to scrap much anymore. One or two evenings a week and that's it. It's worth it; we're trying to be more active and do more stuff together as a family rather than being sedentary. Right now the kids are playing "school" and "house" with Hannah being bother "teacher" and "mom." She's pretty tough. And Cayden hasn't napped, so you can imagine how this is all panning out. Thankfully, we leave to go pick up daddy in 15 minutes.

I've been totally slacking in my regular CT commitments, and I feel terrible about that, but for some reason I just can't find my groove. Hopefully I didn't lose it for good.

This month has been completely crazy for me already. Totally insane, but I'm finding time to scrap.

I'm attempting to do the Project 365 photo challenge which involves not only taking a photo a day, but also scrapping it. I'm already so behind it isn't even funny. But I'm still going to attempt it.

I'm also participating in the ADSR Season 4 with Patricia again. We've completed the 1st week and are moving on today to Week 2. It's already been a real challenge for us. Ha!

And my last exciting bit of news is that I'm a Guest CT for Flergs! I'm not only excited, but shocked!! But I'm loving it and have already created 2 LOs using her Rough and Tumble: RELOADED. And they are super cute LOs!!

The Snow Test

It's a New Year!

Welcome to the 2nd day of 2009. My poor Hannah doesn't understand why we haven't seen the "firelights" and said "Happy New Year!" yet. Poor girl was asleep by 9 pm on Wednesday night. Of course, Mommy dozed on and off from 9 until midnight, only awake long enough to tell my snoring husband "Happy New Year!" And boy did she have a meltdown when I told her it was already the new year. So together around 6 pm last night, we yelled together, "HAPPY NEW YEAR!" She said it's not the same. LOL.

Of course, along with the New Year comes resolutions. I try not to get hung up in the craziness of it all. But this year, my resolutions are not the same as the ones I've had in the past.

Over this coming year, I hope to

grow closer to my LORD. Drive into his Word and continue to learn how to be like Him.
continue to love others like Jesus.
be the mother to my children that the LORD wants me to be. I want to have more patience and understanding with them when it comes to every day things and I want them to see how to love others by my actions.
be the wife to Stephen that I know I can be - I want our relationship to strengthen in ever ay possible.
lose the weight I gained with Cayden by living a healthy lifestyle. I want my entire family to live an active and healthy lifestyle. This is so important to me.
grow closer to my family and friends. I'm tired of superficial relationships. I want each relationship I have to grow deeper. Those that don't, are a waste of my time.

So those are my resolutions. Pretty deep if you ask me.

It's beginning to look a lot like. . . .

Christmas!! This is one of my favorite times of year! No, I don't love the hustle and bustle, pushing and shoving or crowds. But I love all the smiles and friendliness this time of year brings. I also love the meaning behind the season - the Lord came to earth as a baby boy to save the world from eternal damnation. And I love that my kids know what Christmas is all about - not just presents.

This Advent season, our church is looking at Advent from a different perspective. We're reading John 1:1-18 instead of the story from Matthew, Mark, or Luke. And it's really eye opening. I never thought of John 1:1-18 as being the Christmas story, but now I do. And the scripture verse we chose to put on our card this year is John 1:14.

Now on to the layouts that I've been working on. I have three "Christmasey" layouts.

This LO was created using Pamela Donnis's kit, Merry and Bright. This the first year EVER that both my kids would sit on Santa's lap together. Hannah sat on his lap until the winter she was 2. Cayden sat on Santa's lap his 1st Christmas and not since. Last year, there was no sitting with Santa. Both kids screamed and cried. It was mad chaos, so this photo delights me! Santa is the magical and fun part of Christmas that helps us to remember what it was like to have Christmas as a child. It's magical, and yes, I still believe.

This next LO was created using photos from our "Christmas Photo Shoot." We did not go to the mall this year; we did not have Uncle Kenny take our photo." This year, I shot the photo of the kiddos, and our dear friend, Jill, too the picture of our family. And it's beautiful. I just LOVE it, standing in front of the big Christmas Tree at the Ruby Ranch Lodge (where our church meets). The photo is great, the one of the kids is perfect, and the others were just fun to shoot while trying to figure out what we were doing. In this LO I, again, used Merry and Bright by Pamela Donnis. This is a great Christmas kit!!

And finally, our Photo Christmas Card. I used Christmas Time by Claudi Designs and a template I created last year. I'm very pleased with the card. I cannot wait to have them printed.

Okay, I'm out. I've got lots to do, including make 2 fleece tie blankets this evening.

Holiday Gifts & Cards

I have had little computer time this week. In fact, I have not been home much, and when I have been at home, I've been working on gifts, Christmas cards, Jamie's wedding video, or helping out friends. Thankful, today is a very easy day for me. Cayden will be taking a nap shortly, and I will once again be in the office finishing up the wedding video. I must say that it is a pretty awesome video - and much of last night was spent in tears from either being overwhelmed with emotion (watching the bride dance with mom and dad) or from laughter (watching the bride's pure country brothers dance to Lolli Lolli and Yeah, Yeah, Yeah." HILARIOUS!!!

So, next week is Thanksgiving, and the kids will be giving their teachers and principal a small gift. We found these baskets, candles, and scarecrows on sale at 80% off at Hobby Lobby so I grabbed them. Add some homemade pumpkin bread next week, and the gifts will be complete.

Tomorrow is the Christmas Card Shoebox Swap. I created (okay modified)two cards for this event (one for me and one for mom). I think they are soooo cute.

And lastly, Brandi's birthday is tomorrow so I went ahead and made her this blanket (thanks to Traci's expertise from 4 years ago, this has been a pretty standard gift in my book).

So although I have been working on a couple of Digital Christmas gifts, I cannot share them here due to spoiling the element of surprise, but I can share everything else I've been doing.

I'm also going to be making these two desserts for our class Thanksgiving Feast of Desserts. Found them in on the Family Fun website.

I have been so busy lately with actual "life" that I haven't had much time to scrap. I'm working on my dear friend, Jamie's, wedding video. It is taking quite a bit of time to edit, but I think it's going to be a wonderful memory that I was able to help preserve. I love the editing software I am using. It's pretty amazing. But here I sit, bleary eyed, trying to get this post made.

Don't get me wrong, I have been able to get some scrapping done, but outside of that, I've been doing lots around the house (did I mention I cleaned it a million times this week and you still can't tell). I also made a Baby Shower gift for my dear friend, Molly, made a couple cards, and played with my kids, not to mention kept a girlfriend's little girl so she could get some Christmas shopping taken care of and volunteered up at Hannah's school.

Thursday I did stay home from work with Cayden since he came down with croup again. Poor baby boy. He's been pretty miserable, and his cough is sounding worse (without the barking), but the pediatrician's nurse told me to just keep doing what we're doing and if he's still bad on Monday to call and bring him into the office. We'll see what happens.

Fall/Halloween Layouts

I've been working on several CT layouts this week. My designers have some of the cutest kits out there for this fall!! They also have some really elegant kits. I love this one by Claudi Designs.

This one is called Scare Me by Sherri Tierney. Isn't it just the cutest kit EVER??? Lots of fun to scrap with, too!!

I've also been working with Pamela Donnis's latest kit, Tricks and Treats. She saw my layouts and asked me to be on her CT. I am honored and excited to work with her designs.

My sister-in-law, Stephanie, helped Hannah make this adorable sock pumpkin last week when we were car shopping. It is now placed on our entertainment center as a part of our fall decor.

The photo for this LO is from last year's Halloween. D, K, and Hannah all went trick-or-treating together for the 2nd year in a row. We can't wait to join them this year as well. In this LO, I also used Pamela's Tricks and Treats.

Another kit I have been able to work with is Tricker's Treat by the designers at Elemental Scraps.

At Homecoming Weekend, my kiddos visited the little Pumpkin Patch display the students set up for photos. While at the display, I went ahead and told my kids to take the littlest pumpkins so they thought we were at a "real" pumpkin patch. So the story of the pumpkin thieves.

This LO was created in honor my daughter and her new glasses. Karla Marano saved the day and created the most precious kit for the photos of my little girl. It's called Rose Colored Glasses.

My sister-in-love has an amazing talent for snapping photos. Some photos that I take are lucky lens didn't break. On day, I will conquer the fate that comes with taking pictures with no training. And until, I'll take photos from those who ask. That being said, the photo in the LO to the right was taken by Stephanie McIntyre. She's got a great eye for image and taking photos. It's the just going into business that's tough.

A 2005 Kia Sedona. Not exactly what we had intended on purchasing, but we were so blessed to fall into a deal we couldn't refuse. Thanks to our wonderful friend and pastor, Paul Goeke, having an amazing connection at Howdy Honda and to our fabulous salesman, Eric, we now have a minivan w/ warranty sitting in our driveway. I'm still a little in shock, but I'm sooo happy. Thanks also to Stephen brother, Daniel, who spent all morning and most of the afternoon with us making sure we got a safe vehicle. A photo of Hannah in the new van. She's so excited because it's "GREEN with SPARKLES!! I always wanted a car with SPARKLES before." I guess the paint has a shimmer to it because she is just thrilled with the new car. We also went and got new car seats for the kids. They are currently hanging out in their boxes in the back of the van, but they will be installed tonight, and Hannah wants picture taken in her new seat, so we'll have more to share later!

On the way to school Tuesday, Hannah and I were hit from behind on the frontage road of Ben White Blvd near IH-35. We were having a Mommy/Hannah morning and going to stop for breakfast before school. Stephen was working from home because Cayden is on the tail end of Hand, Foot, Mouth virus and we didn't want to expose the kiddos at his preschool.

So I'm slowing down to turn into the Chick-Fil-A/Starbucks Parking lot, and the next thing I know we are moving very quickly towards a metal fence and eletrical pole. The whole thing was so sureal. I felt like I was going in slow motion as I gathered my wits and realized what was happened. The first thing that clued me in to something being wrong was Hannah screaming, "MOMMY!" That's what got me back into reality and able to manuever the car away from the fence and hit the brakes to come to a stop (nearly at the street a block away). We landed on the side walk about 400 ft from the driveway where were were intentionally trying to get into.

The car is a mess. As soon as we get the chance to get to the Tow Yard, I'll post photos, but it doesn't look good at all. The bumper and trunk were literally in the backseat. We couldn't open the doors to get Hannah out. I had to crawl through the front seat toget Hannah unbuckled and then had her crawl out of the car through the front.

Cop arrived, took care of us first. The guy did have insurance (thank the LORD), but I'm fairly certain he got a free trip downtown because our car was towed immediately, his truck was drivable, and it was still at the accident scene when we headed to the ER 2 hours later.

Turns out Hannah is fine. She is emotionally traumatized beyond belief. I don't even know how we're going to handle that. We'll have her talk to our pastors and the school counselor and then go from there, but this little 5 year old doesn't want to go anywhere in a car without her daddy anymore.

I on the otherhand have a minor concussion and severe whiplash. I'm on Vicodin, Motrin, and Soma (a muscle relaxer) and under the medical treatment of my chiropractor. No work for the rest of the week. No lifting for who knows how long.

But it could have been much worse. We are soooo blessed. And please, please, pray for the young man who hit us. If he was drunk (and underage), he's in a world of trouble.

Turns out the kid didn't have insurance either, which totally sucks, but we are thankful that we have awesome car insurance to help with all of this.

Facing CT Rejection

So there is a particular site that I visit in the digital scrapbooking world almost daily. I will continue to visit there and play along with their challenges. I will continue to purchase kits from some of my favorite designers and use the points I earn in their shop. But I do not know if I will continue applying to be on CTs for their designers. I've applied to be on 4 CTs at this site. I love each designers work so much that I cannot stop using their products, and I don't want to name them in public because I don't want anything bad to be said about them as designers, BUT I will point out that the majority of the members of their CTs are the same. I don't understand why you make a CT call for new talent, but then choose the same people as your fellow designers. And not only that, but make them the same people who are on the SITE CT. Ridiculous. That's all I have to say.

Maybe I'm just bitter because I've had a run of rejections lately. Who knows. I've been out of my element and attempting to make it up to the ladies I CT for (who are ALL amazing). But at the same time, I'd love to work with some awesome new stuff w/o going broke (If you know what I mean). Ugh.

I'll get there again, but other than that, I am who I am, and I'm not going to change who I am to make anyone happy. So how did I pan out according to the quiz??

Where were you seven years ago today at 8:00 EST?? On the way to work/preschool today, the song by Alan Jackson, Where were you when the world stopped turning?, came on the radio. I usually am able to get a grip on my emotions and just reflect on what happened to our country on that day in 2001. But this year, tears welled up in my eyes as I listened to the words of the song, particularly the 2nd verse when he sings, "Where were you when the world stopped turning that September day
Teaching a class full of innocent children Driving down some cold interstate."

My eyes welled up with tears because 7 years ago, I was teaching my 1st class of 5th graders. The class that was deemed, "The class from h---." by the other teacher with whom I worked. And here I was, fresh out of college, trying to get a grip on teaching as well as make long lasting connections with my students. I learned so much from those 10 year olds (who are now graduating from high school). I learned that forgiveness really is key to moving on with our lives. I remember Kacie Friedrich praying for the people who did this to our country, "Lord, please forgive the men who did this terrible thing. Please show them your love." I remember standing there in awe, thinking. . . wow. . . .can I forgive them? And of course, I still have not. I still feel like my life has been violated - that my children's lives have been violated because now they have to learn in history class about something that happened in my lifetime. I suppose this is what my parents felt during Vietnam, or my grandparents during WWII and Korea. I don't know, now I think that I really did take living in America for granted. I, never in my life, ever thought that someone from behind enemy lines would come here to act out against us. Just for being American.

But I am proud to be an American. I'm proud of our public servicemen and women. Anytime I see a firefighter I just want to hug him/her. And I know that before 9/11, I did not have those feelings. Now, I want to bring them cookies and tell them Thank You. Same goes to any police officer, ENT, and soldier/sailor/etc.

So I ask you, where were you? Do you remember? Have you forgotten? If you have, please revisit what happened to our country and remember to say thank you. Tell your neighbor hello and invite your folks over for dinner one evening.

As I am waiting for my hubby to come back to our Mini Honeymoon (it's our 9th anniversary) from the store to get something to eat, I thought I'd play the latest SSD FOB2Y.

For this week’s challenge, we’re going to take you back to school. The Crayola website has a test to see how many colors you know! And I am a certified COLOR GENIUS! Making 15 mistakes and 8 of them were from the "Kid's Choice Colors" (what are those?). I'm happy to say I know the majority of the colors in the BIG BOX of CRAYONS - even mac and cheese and robin's egg blue. LOL

I've found a little time to scrap during my busy week. Scrapping has been my downtime and although it looks like I've been doing a lot, I really haven't (LOL). I haven't been home much this week. I really hope things start to slow down or I'm going to lose my mind. I'm thankful that I'm a quick scrapper who loves to participate in challenges that help get my creative juices flowing. And the kids have been in bed by 8 p.m. every evening so I've had lots of uninterrupted scrapping time.

Okay, so I took this stupid test. And I got a 90%. I found the ONE mistake that I made, but there are 20 words (or something like that) and I went through each one with the dictionary and I DID NOT miss two words. I don't care what the quiz says - I really scored a 90%. I know, shouldn't be a big deal, BUT IT IS - I'm an English Major. Spelling is something I just DO. LOL - okay, I'm over it.

Why doesn't Kindergarten come w/ a warning - CAUTION: Parents will feel completely exhausted and emotionally drained by the end of each day. Do not try to do more than one activity in a day until you are used to the new schedule.

That being said, I did not realize that taking on a new position as a Teacher's Aide at Noah's Ark preschool was literally going to kick my behind, and we haven't even started school. Just 2 days a week. It's still hard work. I'm in mid-process of putting up our welcoming bulletin board - it's really cute. I'm just going to see if I can make it even cuter - and of course finish it by noon on Thursday. Now remember, I don't go back until tomorrow.

And what will I do this afternoon before picking up Hannah? I will take a nap. I much needed, not sleeping through the night, midafternoon nap.

my dear sweet hubby for Husband of the Year!! As many of you know, I kept a boatload of children this week at my home. And I do not believe I complained twice. Once, I'm sure of. . . I was very tired, but I'm fairly certain, I just went with it and attempted to keep everyone happy. And I did have a great week with the girls and Cayden. It was lots of fun. But it was exhausting.

We've been planning on going out of town since June. Uncle Les turns 50 next week. He and Stephen share a birthday. About midweek I decided the trip probably wasn't the best idea of our family. I am very nervous about school starting tomorrow and want tonight's routine to be as close to normal as possible. Plus, Ms. Molly was having a baby revealing party, and she actually called me and left a message stating that if I wasn't there, I didn't get to find out until I saw her, which could have been a while. Well, instead of the whole family staying home, Stephen suggested he take the kids to Jacksonsville and I stay home alone for all day Saturday and part of the day Sunday. And that's what we did. I was going to spend some of yesterday cleaning, but I decided against that so yes, my house is a mess, but I am one very relaxed and rested woman. Here's an outline of my day:

* Get up with family, help pack, get kids fed

* Send family on their way - lots of hugs and kisses and repeated hugs and kisses

* Attend a SpeedScrap Chat online at 9 am. Wanna see my layout? This was a challenge for me. We had to use the kit Urban Solitude, and I was having issues with trying to figure out how to make this kit childlike.

* Walk with Buster - we are still looking for Sparky. :(

* Massage at 12:30 pm - best massage of my life. Alex from Massage Harmony, thank you soooo much.

* Lunch at Central Market - Basil Pesto, Artichoke, Mushroom, and Olive Pizza on thin crust - AMAZING.

* Bra shopping at Nordstroms - no more nursing bras!!!

* Ran some other errands - dog food, small gift for Ms. Molly, and treat from Starbucks

* Rest and relax at home for a couple of hours. I scrapped a few more pages:

* Revealing party at Molly and Shannon's - It's a SURPRISE. . . mum's the word here. I know, but I'm not telling :)

* Walk with both dogs - this was not fun at all and towards the end a big dog tried to attack us - owner was a little slow to react, but I'm ticked that the dog wasn't on a leash. Grrrrr.

* Wished kids Good Night over phone. Went and got a coke and cookies from McDonald's - just a little treat

* Bed pretty late, but nothing planned for tomorrow except to figure out how to get Buster in to get his nails trimmed, OUCH.

So there you have it. I'm thinking of going to a movie but haven't quite decided. I may just sit here in my PJs all day. I need to get to the grocery store to get Hannah her favorite lunch items for this week and to pick up the ingredients for tonight's menu item for church. Thinking of baking a tart.

At any rate - I think my hubby's the best. This was my first time away from my kiddos in a very long time - ever if you count that they are actually not in Austin.

Bloom and Grow. . . and meet the teacher

It's official. She's really and truly five years old and going to Kindergarten on Monday. I have been working one of her birthday photos for a scrapbook layout. I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out. Notice how tiny and delicate she was in her newborn photo. Crazy stuff!!! Man, was she really ever that small? And when did she turn into the little lady that she is now? When did it happen? I've been home with her all her life. I just don't get it. It happens soooo fast. They aren't kidding when they say time goes by so quickly. I'm still in awe with the fact that she's really going to Kindergarten. For REAL.

We did get to meet Hannah's teacher today - Mrs Degon. I snapped a photo. Look at the fake smile from my little girl. Totally a forced smile. I hate photos like that. And of course, we're "already sucking up" as Stephen says since we gave Mrs. Degon a small gift of pretty pink post it notes, notepad, pushpins, and paperclips. But it was something I needed Hannah to do, having been a teacher myself.

And no worries about numbers in Hannah's class. There are a total of 13 or 14 kids, 7-8 boys and 5-6 girls. Totally awesome, if you want my opinion. Here's to Monday. Say lots of prayers. We'll both need them.

Longest Week of my Life and SSD FOB2Y

Yep, it's official. The week before Kindergarten starts has to be the longest week in the history of my life. It was not the week before I got married. It was not the week before either of my kids were born (they came as surprises so no preparation there). It has to be this week.

Now, don't get me wrong. I am having a blast this week. We've been terribly busy getting ready for school and spending time together. We've started the mom up at 6, Hannah up at 6:30. It's working. She's going to bed tired and not fighting us. But this week, I have had an additional 3 kiddos with me. My three "nieces" (cousin's girls and one of my best friends' daughter). And I am loving this houseful of children. It's been so much fun for me. We've even ventured out into the real world several times - Monday we went to Sam's. Tuesday we had an entire day nearly spent in the car - Stephen took the afternoon off and we headed up to our beloved Chiropractor for one final visit before switching to a new one. This was a very difficult decision to make. I met my chiropractor in 2001 after wrenching my neck while working. It was then that I learned I couldn't turn my neck at all. We're talking a 5 degree angle. I was literally using my shoulders and waist for everything (even driving - yikes). After months of visits and therapy, I started seeing huge improvement, and I'm happy to say that today, I can turn my neck completely and have been mostly migraine free. Life is good. Soooo you can see why we've been driving all the way to Georgetown for 4 years. Well, with K starting, it's just impossible to keep the same schedule so we went to our last appointment. It was very sad. I really and truly have been blessed by my relationship with Dr. Felder. And I have two babies to show for!! She helped me through my pregnancies and has been adjusting both kids since birth.

But I digress. . . I had my "interview," took Miss Martha shopping, kids to chiro, and Hannah's 1st dance class all in one day. And it was a L-O-N-G day. We won't even get into the scam session Stephen and I took time to attend (Bon Voyage Travel - Sealand Travel - looks like a great investment if we had the $$.) We went in for the prizes - a cruise and $1000 to amazon.com and left with bogus prizes. . . crap. . literally crap. I've filed a complaint with the BBB). And we came home to learn that Mr. Sparky had escaped earlier that evening while Stephen was repairing part of the fence. He'd left the garage door open and out he went. . so we're on a trek - back to posting signs and praying that someone brings him home again. Stupid dog is microchipped but kept taking his tag collar off. UGH!!!

And again, I digress. . . today was Hannah's last summer playgroup. I loaded up all the children to head to the Aldridge home for swimming and play. Kalie and Hannah had a blast playing with the kids. . . Parker's sister is Kalie's age so that was a nice break for the girls. From Parker's we went to Chick Fil A, met Stephen, and order the Chicken Nugget Platter and 3 large fries plus small waters for all the kiddos, big water for me, and a drink for Stephen. Turned out to be $4 a person instead of a million. LOL

And now, I'm happy to say, they are ALL FIVE soundly sleeping. We hope to get a walk in this afternoon so that we can hunt for Mr. S.

I'd love to attend, but I want to be at Molly's Reveal the Baby Party, and after this week, I think I deserve a break from any children whatsoever. LOL

Looking forward to the day to myself - is that a bad thing?

BTW - I'm now the 3-year-old class's TA at Noah's Ark Preschool. It's a MDO program - 2 days a week from 9am - 2pm. Tuition for Cayden is free and I get paid on top of it all. I'm excited. It will be nice to have a little time away from the SAHM life.

I've been busy scrapping in my free time. Actually, I have no free time - which is insane. But I do have some layouts that I have been working on during the past week. It has just been crazy around here and is about to get crazier, I'm sure. So, I have my Sweet Shop Blog entry and then some LOs to share.

Guest CT for Claudi Designs and other CT Layouts

I've been asked to be a guest ct for Claudi this month. I am very excited and have been having a blast created layouts for her. She's got some awesome stuff!!

I created this LO using her kit, Jen. The alpha is C{k}rafty by Boyerville Scraps and the Flourish is from Cottage Chic by Flergs. The photo is from Hannah's birthday party.

I also did some CT layouts using Sherri's kit, She's got Spunk with the photos from Hannah's party. I'm not done scrapping birthday photos, but I had to start somewhere.

And then, I learned that I won the random, "Sink the Sunshine Ship" game on Friday! I was so excited. I rarely win anything so this was so much fun!!!! And it was a $3.00 GC from Claudi. LOL. . . so here I am plugging these products I got using it because I think they are gorgeous!!! I had the honor of singing/leading music for my new "niece's" baptism on Saturday. Well, I multi-tasked and also took photos. The photos I got turned out beautifully. And I had to scrap them right away. These QPs were PERFECT!!! They are the Summer in my Mind QP Set 6.

My sweet friend, Christina had a baby boy last week. I wanted to give her something special, so I created these baby announcements for her using Little Safari by Karen Lewis. His nursery theme is Fun in the Jungle so this kit was the PERFECT kit!!

And lastly, I just happened to grab this kit from Sherri. It's called Snazzy Little Men, and I am loving it!!! I threw this together last night.

Template Lady - Comin' at Ya!

Hi everyone! It's a new month and you know what that means! A new template challenge that I'm hosting in various forums. This month challenge is a tad bit different from the rest because the complete end result will be a HYBRID project! We're making layouts to feature in a CD Case Album! How fun, huh?

Anyway, there are three templates provided for you. A cover, and then two photo pages. When you've finished scrapping, you can print them out and put them in an empty CD case to put on display. I'm totally going to make a couple of these for DH to have at the office. Maybe my the grandmas, too!

Seriously cute, right? And once you're grabbed them, created out LOs, posted them in the various forums so you're eligible for prizes, you can follow the instructions below to create your little album.

Here are the forums where you can post your LOs: Groovy Scraps, KJOI Studios, Scrapper's Zone, and Scrappin' Freestyle.

Instructions

You'll need an empty plastic cd case. You can buy them at an office supply store.

Take your cover and first layout and put it in the case under the tabs that are conveniently provided within the case. For your second page you'll have to glue it in, since it doesn't have the tabs. You can use glue dots, adhesive, or sticky strip. Your done! I borrowed this idea from a Ruth so I wanted to post her finished project here. I thought it would be a perfect 1st Hybrid project for those of us who are venturing out past the scrapping world. And since I'm the template lady, I thought I should start providing different types of templates so be on the lookout for some cool stuff!

Before I head to bed, I have to share this LO that I created tonight at the Sunshine Wonder Week Speed Scrap #2. Basically we had to create a LO in a total of 2 hours following certain steps. So I killed 3 birds with one stone tonight and did this LO for the Speed Scrap, an AUGUST CT, and my last Sweet Shop Challenge for July. And well, I just love it! Introducing Greta Lynn

So, my children were informed earlier this week that they have a new cousin. Their "Opa," as the new grandpa wants to be called (although there is still some discussion going on about that name), told Hannah at VBS that they have a new baby cousin. She's sooo excited and now referring to Leah and Christyn as "Aunt." It's so cute. And Cayden sees photos of Mr. S and says, "That's Opa!!"

I guess I should explain, my childhood best friend and her husband welcome their first child, a daughter, into the world. Greta Lynn was born on July 2nd. I've been having so much fun working with all the photos Leah has sent me of her. I have the actual files so I am loving the fact that I'm creating something that can actually be printed!!

I've been working my tale off this week on my CT commitments. And I've been finding challenges to participate in as well. It's been a good scrapping week for me. The kids have had VBS in the evenings so I've been able to spend some me time doing what I love to do.

There is an awesome Collaboration Kit at ColorLineDesign this month. You can receive this kit for free by participating in three of the challenges.

These first two LOs are from Samantha's Birthday Party last weekend. We had a lot of fun playing in the pool! Even the adults acted like kiddos!

This LO includes some photos from our Sea World trip last Monday. We had a great time. I'm busy working on more SW LOs as well.

This is a photo that Stephanie took of Sam at her party. This kit is Summer Stroll by Paula Phillips Designs, also available at ColorLineDesign. I love the fun colors in this kit!

I created another page with photos of Miss Greta! I used Lliella's retired kit, Cuddly Creatures. Isn't she the most adorable, beautiful baby girl you've seen since Hannah? I think so. This is my new little "niece" as her Opa told my Hannah, "You've got a new cousin!"

And of course, I'm a Traci Reed Addict. She's another designer I've been following since 2006. I lost her for a bit, but found her again and cannot get enough of her designs. And although she's rejected me TWICE for her CT, I'm still a fan.. . . although a devastated one. LOL.

I've been on a roll the past couple of days. No scrapping was done yesterday as I had a terrible headache and spent the afternoon and evening in bed. Feel bad because I missed the Chapman Reception, but I just wasn't going to be good company. But I have been able to get some scrapping in and have been whipping them out like hot cakes! And I think they are some of my BEST scrapping!

So here I am participating in a challenge at the SSD Blog. And I must admit that I *really* only started going over their because I was hoping to make Traci Reed's CT. Of course, everyone knows that I received the rejection letter, but I have really enjoyed participating over a SSD in their challenge area so I have continued hanging out over there. This week, one of the challenges on their blog was to scrap about our favorite birthday so far, and I must admit that my 30th birthday was the BEST birthday I've had in a long time. And I have LOs to document it instead of just blogging about it. You all can feel like you were there with me! :)

Taking time to eScape

So I participated in a stamp class last night entitled eScape. The purpose was to take a break from technology and emails and spend time just having some good old stamping fun. The cards are super cute and the wrap is even cuter.

See what I mean? And of course, this class made me remember, that regardless of all the digital artwork out there. Regardless of how quick and sometimes easy it is to just sit down at the computer and create something, there is nothing like sitting down and stamping a handmade card and then mailing it out to show how much you care about someone. And so, for the majority of today, I sat down, and created baby announcement for a friend of mine who is expecting at the end of July. I used this card as my inspiration and changed it up a bit to help make it just perfect for Emmy. Emmy and Jaimie found out they were expecting in April. They have been trying to get pregnant for several years with no luck. In fact, I've had both my children in the time they've been trying. Emmy quit her job to relieve some major stress and quit buying and taking home pregnancy tests because she couldn't handle the disappointment of the constant negative. She goes into the doctor's office for routine appointment and learns she's pregnant. Doctor gives her an EDD and then schedules an u/s appointment the following week to double check the EDD. At that appointment, Emmy learns that she is not only pregnant, but TWENTY FOUR WEEKS pregnant. She now has 4 months to prepare for baby. Eek! Talk about a surprise. So to continue with the theme, they have decided to wait until delivery to learn the gender of little baby. This made making baby announcements a little difficult, but I am pleased with my results.

All items used in this project by Stampin' Up! Cardstock in Barely Banana, Certainly Celery, and Soft Sky. Grosgrain Ribbon in Barely Banana. Ink is Soft Sky and Chocolate Chip. Corners created using Ticket Punch. Stamp Set used is Bundle of Joy.

That's my gift to her. 25 baby announcements. I hope she's pleased. I am :)

New Layouts

I've been scrapping and designing this week. Trying to get my newest template pack out by Friday, but it's been a busy week with a very long weekend past and future so all I've done is sit down to scrap a bit. But I'm having fun while Hannah is at VBS and Cayden is playing in the playroom! Now if I could get motivated to do the floor in the playroom - I actually did get Hannah's bedroom CLEAN! I should take a photo to commemorate the moment!! LOL. Anyway, I've been swimming in the evenings (okay swam, yesterday, and will again tonight). And then scrapping in the evenings and daytime while Hannah isn't here. It's amazing how much I can get down with only one kid around. But I do miss my VBS going gal!

Okay, the layouts. All LOs were created with Get Your Groove On by Sherri Tierney (yay!) and with my newest, never been released templates! I absolutely think the colors in this kit are fabulouso!

And then this LO was created using a variety of products by Karla Marano. Photo is of Grandma Lavonna (our newly adopted grandma) and her "grandkids."

I finally finished the LO I've been working on since Monday. FINALLY. Now, realize I haven't been working constantly, I've just been coming back to it when I get the chance. And now, it's done. And sooooo cute!!!

I haven't just been sitting around on my duff either. I am able to whip LOs out in no time flat, and so over the past couple days here is what I've been working on. Click on all LOs for full credits.

And lastly, but not least, I'm so excited to share with you all that I've been chosen to serve on Sherri Tierney's Create Team. This is a big deal to me because when I first started digiscrappin', I used nearly all of Sherri's stuff. I took about a 6 month break, but started up again and couldn't find her. I tracked her down year this year and have been DYING for her to have a CT Call. She did, I applied, and BAM! I'm now one of her girls! I'm just soooo excited. When I got the email I said, "Wheeeee!" The about LOs were made using her products!

Rejection

Is it terrible to feel bad when you've applied for the Creative Team of someone you've followed since she began designing - before she was selling her designs - only to be rejected not once, but twice. And I love her stuff - I always have. But I'm not feeling the love here. LOL

Anyway, that's it. . just my little pity party. I got the rejection letter AGAIN. Better luck next time, right?

I'm still blessed to serve on the CTs of several AMAZING designers. Now I can continue to devote more time to their products!

7 facts
1. My immediate family growing up all celebrated their birthdays 2-3 days a part from one another during the Summer, except me. I was born in January.
2. I live in a full house - 1 husband, 2 kids, 3 dogs, and 1 cat. But I take good care of the house so you'd never know we have all those animals.
3. I'm addicted to Sonic Coke - but I'm trying to cut it out of my diet.
4. I'm also addicted to Starbucks Skinny Vanilla Lattes, iced or hot, depending on the time of year. And I'm not cutting that out of my diet. And yes, DH supports it. LOL
5. I am certified to teach High School English, but I've never used it to do so. I taught the 5th grade for 2 years before staying home with my kids.
6. I have experience doing accounts payable but have never gone to school to learn that trade.
7. I'm a fast learner. You usually only have to tell me things once and I remember it.

Not a Nerd?

Ha! Who would have thought! I never realized I'm not a nerd. That's so funny to me. I'm starting to participate more and more at Sweet Shoppe Designs and they have a Blog Challenge that is just so funny, I had to play along. How nerdy am I? I took this quiz to find the answer.

Apparently, I'm a nerd wannabe. Don't know exactly what that means.

I'm "almost" a nerd. I guess I should be thankful!! LOL.

Sparky is Home! :)

We received a phone call this morning from a young man. He had Sparky and brought him back to us! We're soooo excited. A little overwhelmed at the idea of having 3 dogs, but so excited that he's home!!! And the three dogs seem to get along really well. They are soooo cute together. So there you have it - Pokey, Sparky, and Buster!!!

And Hannah is happier than she's been in a long time!!!

Our new family member - and lots of LOs

As you all know, our little dog, Sparky, ran away this past weekend. Our family has been heartbroken and the kids have shed a lot of tears. In fact, last night, I just had a complete meltdown myself. And this was after our new addition joined the family. We love Sparky very much and am very sad that he's gone. We hope for a safe return, but because his return to our family is unknown, we decided to add to our family. I am proud to introduce to the world, our newest addition to our family, Buster.

But this is a pretty cool tag game, so I have to play, regardless of how long it's taken me to get started. This is a Quickpage Tag. Here are the rules:

Thankful

I'm posting this entry on my scrappin' blog, because I was browsing through other scrapper's blogs and came across a very sad story about a couple who was on their way to visit their family over Memorial Day weekend when their car was engulfed by a tornado. They were both found in a field off the highway. The tornado killed them. You can read the news story here.
My heart goes out to the family of this couple. Tears streamed down my face as I read the beautiful tributes written by family and friends. But the most touching post I read was actually one written by one of the sisters-in-law, Jayme. She wrote a tribute to her sisters-in-law. I can't remember the last time I told my sisters-in-law how much I truly love and care about them. We're not nearly as close as we used to be, but my life wouldn't be complete without them. Of course, I'm going to include my little sister as well in this tribute.

13 reasons I love H:
13. She's my sister by birth. As we grew up, we became completely different people, but as we grew older, we became closer than ever.
12. She is so funny. I can still remember the day I introduced her to Stephen. You'll have to ask her about that.
11. She loves my kids unconditionally. I know that she prays for them daily and truly looks forward to seeing them when the opportunity comes about.
10. She loves me unconditionally - even when I'm super emotional and down on myself.
9. She has helped me see what it is to love like Jesus.
8. She has an amazingly beautiful voice that I could listen to all day.
7. She can laugh with me until we both either snort or have to pee, and then the laughter only brings on more laughter and happy tears.

13. She's very thoughtful. She is always bringing something little for one of my kids (if not both) just because she HAD to.
12. She gave me my first nephew, and treated me like his aunt, even though it wasn't official until he was 7 months old.

I'm busy finishing the PreK Scrapbook. Of course, it turns out that I somehow misplaced some files of the actual print LOs so I'm busy remaking a ton of them from the Web Size. It's okay because I'm enjoying reliving the memories, but I feel so behind and want to be done before the 30th so I can order books from Winkflash.

A Few Layouts

I've been really busy with the kids and the house. Scrapping and Designing have taken a backseat to life, but that's okay. Life will go on and I will someday get back into the groove, but my little girl is graduating from Pre-K and off to Kindergarten next year so these half days and soon to be full days of summer are going to be limited. So we're going to spend lots of time together. Today we baked cookies for the teachers (and Hannah) - Peanut Butter Oatmeal Chocolate Chip - purely sinful, simply delicious. I'm sure she'll help me make supper or entertain brother in the backyard.

I've been DYING to work with the photos that Uncle K took of Cayden. This LO is so much fun!!

And the photos he took of Hannah, the ones I had no idea were even taken until he sent them to me, have been so much fun to work with. I love this LO.

Playing Catch Up

Life has been incredibly busy in the McIntyre Household. You'd like without having Miss P to keep an eye on, I'd have more free time, but we have just been running like mad. This coming week is Hannah's last full week of Pre-K. Her Pre-K Graduation is on Tuesday, May 20th. I'm still in shock and very emotional over this milestone in her life. I'm sure by Kindergarten, I will be a complete basketcase.

Stephen took last week off. It has been really nice having him home with me, but with him home, housework was put aside and we had lots of family time. So this weekend, we have been cleaning like there's nothing else to do. Yes, on Mother's Day, I scrubbed the kitchen floor and completely vacuumed the living room (after cleaning it up). Thankfully, it is now nice and clean and the week will be off to a great start. We also got a new refrigerator this weekend. And although we measured it precisely before purchasing it, we did not take into account that the kitchen cabinets were installed crooked so quite a bit of maneuvering had to be done (including shortening our countertops and moving over the store and cabinet) before the fridge could be properly installed. Thank goodness for Grandpa!!! We now have an awesome fridge and a very clean kitchen (that'd be my part of the installation).

We also have started the Kindergarten Registration Process. Hannah will not be attending the neighborhood school. We were very unhappy, disappointed, and uncomfortable with our experience that her assigned school so we found a wonderful school up the road from Grandma and Grandpa's house and have started the transfer process. We've met with the principal and have been told that Hannah is welcome to attend Kindergarten at the new school, so now we just have to complete the formal transfer process. Right now our transfer request have been put into the appeal process and will be approved when the principal receives a phone call asking whether or not Hannah is welcome at the school. I'm so thankful to have already gone and met the principal and spoken with her about our concerns. This has been such a blessing. And the new principal is a wonderful administrator.

So aside from life as we all know it, Stephen and I, along with J & E, walked in the March for Babies on Saturday, and we're all feeling the aches from all that walking. But I know I can do it, so I'm very determined to start a fairly intense exercise routine and finally get this baby weight off. And our team raised $405 for the March of Dimes which is totally awesome!!!

Mother's Day Weekend has been pretty amazing for me. Grandma and Grandpa kept the kids overnight on Friday, allowing Stephen and I to have a little alone time and to go to the Walk w/o our kids traipsing behind us. They would not have made it through the morning. It was insane. After the walk, we came home and showered and then Stephen had scheduled a Mother's Day Massage for me. It was heavenly. And then the kids gave me Lamme's Chocolate Covered Strawberries and a Starbucks Card (reloaded). This morning Stephen and Cayden took me to breakfast, which ended up being free because my omelette was not fully cooked and had raw egg white in it (YUCK). And then we took Mom to lunch and met up with Heather and Eddie. It's been a great day. I'm now updating my blog and going to go and read my book club book, Pigs in Heaven, by Barbara Kingsolver.
